At approximately 1745 square feet, the one I would really like to see is in the middle of the main building over the entry way. Each loft “penthouse” features 22 foot ceilings and 10 foot high windows. It looks incredible from the floor plan.
Some History:
Built in 1886 and constructed of stone and bricks, there are two buildings on site. One was used as a convent (The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart Convent) and the other as a Catholic school known as St. Joseph’s Academy. When the school was moved to East Carondelet, the school was then occupied by Immaculate Heart Academy.
Cool fact, the Academy Lofts building is one of the largest structures to remain standing from the Territorial period.
The property was purchased in 2004 by Fenton Investment Co for $750,000 and the redevelopment of these buildings was expected to cost over one million dollars.
There are 36 lofts in total. 25 of the lofts were to become rentals for at least five years due to a federal tax credit. I am hoping to see them become available for sale in the near future.
