What makes a Tucson loft, a loft? I often get that question, and I always give an underwhelming response, “Well, it depends on where you live…” That’s not quite the definitive answer people are looking for, but it’s the truth. It’s also what makes Tucson Lofts so unique!
Wikipedia describes lofts as large, adaptable open spaces, often converted for residential use (a converted loft) from some other use, often light industrial. While the definition has evolved over time, according to UrbanEdge, “A loft apartment is generally defined as a large, open space, usually without any internal walls”.
What Makes Tucson Lofts Unique?
Tucson features lots of different types of lofts to appeal to different types of buyers! That’s what makes our lofts so unique, we have four different floor designs, offering four incredible ways that Tucson Lofts are unique!
- Loft Condos
- Loft Studios
- Loft Townhomes
- Loft Single Family Homes
Loft Condos
For SeeTucsonLofts, I describe them as open spaces with a floating floor of some type. However, not all Tucson lofts have floating floors.
Places like the Academy Lofts, featuring an incredible open design and high, spacious ceilings don’t offer the floating floor. In fact, they are more studio than loft. The entire community was a historic Monastery converted into condos.
The Ice House Lofts are the perfect example of what I mean by Tucson Loft Condos. Each unit is huge, with an open floor plan and high ceilings. Most of the units also feature complete living areas overhead, utilizing that space perfectly.
Loft Studios
The Ice House Lofts are also home to Loft Studios. These smaller, more functional condos have the same spacious design and high ceilings and walls. They often lack, however, the completed space for living upstairs. Check out an example of the incredible Ice House Loft 202 to see what I mean!
Loft Single Family Homes
Two more fantastic loft communities, Barrio Metallico and Dos Pedros Lofts, consist of what are called Single Family Loft Homes. These have the cherished immense, open spaces and upstairs living areas, but they add some separation from your neighbors.
In many Loft Communities, your condo loft is stacked either vertically or horizontally (sometimes both) with your neighbors. All of you have more than enough space and this is usually never an issue, but those who prefer a little more distance are able to achieve that with Tucson Loft Townhomes!
There are a few loft townhomes at The Ice House Lofts. The developer had extra space and built three units side by side at the end of the lot. These three units are definitely townhomes in style as they share walls, however, there is no unit above or below.
